A strongly aperiodic shift of finite type on the discrete Heisenberg group using Robinson tilings

چکیده
We explicitly construct a strongly aperiodic subshift of finite type for the discrete Heisenberg group. Our example builds on classical tilings plane due to Raphael Robinson. Extending those group by exploiting group’s structure and posing additional local rules prune out remaining periodic behavior, we maintain rich projective subdynamics Z2 cosets. In addition, obtained factors onto aperiodic, minimal sofic shift via map that is invertible dense set configurations.

Aperiodic Tilings on the Computer
We brieey review the standard methods used to construct quasiperi-odic tilings, such as the projection, the innation, and the grid method. A number of sample Mathematica programs, implementing the diierent approaches for one-and two-dimensional examples, are discussed. Apart from small examples, the corresponding programs are not contained in the text, but are archived on the WWW.

The Automorphism Group of a Shift of Finite Type
Let (Xt,ot) be a shift of finite type, and G = aut(or) denote the group of homeomorphisms of Xt commuting with ctWe investigate the algebraic properties of the countable group G and the dynamics of its action on Xt and associated spaces. Using "marker" constructions, we show G contains many groups, such as the free group on two generators. However, G is residually finite, so does not contain di...

In this note we prove the following results: • If a finitely presented group G admits a strongly aperiodic SFT, then G has decidable word problem. • For a large class of group G, Z × G admits a strongly aperiodic SFT. In particular, this is true for the free group with 2 generators, Thompson’s groups T and V , PSL2(Z) and any f.g. group of rational matrices which is bounded. While Symbolic Dyna...
